Last wednesday was a strange(r) day at the Gothic theater. The atmosphere was lively and the crowd got acquainted with each other before the moshing began. Twen, the indie rock duo from Nashville, opened the evening with a mix of their tunes old and new. Lead singer Jane Fitzsimmons pulled the focus straight to her with her energetic dance moves and killer vocals. Between her and guitarist Ian Jones ripping, the crowd was enthralled. Lucky for us, they debuted a handful of songs for the very first time! Stay tuned to their socials to hear first about any news releases!

Skegss, an indie surf rock duo, is made up of Jonny Lani and Ben Reed. The two childhood best friends reconnected to kick off their music career back in 2014. They came out with “L.S.D” as their first single and arguably the song that put them on the map. So much of their music relates to the simplicity of life. Themes of taking each moment as it comes and just trying to focus on these enjoyable moments bleed through their discography. The only qualm I had while watching this show was that we weren’t outside basking in the sunshine! “Spring Has Sprung,” was the perfect anthem to get the crowd excited for the upcoming season of sunny days ahead.  It was difficult to tell who was having a better time, the audience, or the guys on stage. There was no shortage of crowd surfing, stage diving, and moshing. It seemed like at some point or another everyone and their mother was floating through the crowd and singing along. They ended with the fan favorite track “Stranger Days,” my personal go to song for bringing myself back into reality after tough times. The song is a great reminder that while bad days will always creep back in, but you've got to power through! You have dreams that you still need to fulfill! Hearing these lyrics echoed by the crowd was a great reminder to take the highs that do come and don't let them pass you by. Fans left the show with new friends, raspy voices, bruises, and memories that will last them a lifetime. Hopefully this isn’t the last time that Skegss comes to Colorado.
